Rahere Court is the perfect accommodation choice for students studying at Queen Mary, University of London, and it’s just a short walk to the Mile End campus. Rahere court is surrounded by residential areas and is a quiet place to study as there is no busy high street! Queen Mary University is across the road from the flats and most of the commuters are students. It takes about 6 minutes to get from Stepney Green Station to the halls of residence in the evening (5 minutes on the main road and less than 1 minute on the side streets), making it a great place to stay for Queen Mary students. 


Residence facilities


Rahere Court offers 186 beds in two types of accommodation: Studio and En-suite. Ensuites are single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchens for 3 or 4 people, Studios are with en-suite kitchens and bathrooms. The kitchen is equipped with basic kitchen facilities such as a fridge, microwave and oven. Free WiFi is available in all rooms as well as in the common areas. There is a free recreation room and study room for students to use in the flats. A washing machine and dryer are available in the laundry and students are required to pay coins to use them.


The rent includes all costs such as high speed WIFI, financial insurance, water, electricity and gas. 


Location


Rahere Court is a 4-minute walk to Queen Mary, University of London and a 15-minute walk to City University Aldaate, City University London and it takes less than 20 minutes by tube or bus to the city centre and city centre universities. Mile End and Stepney Green stations are about 7 minutes' walk away. 


Surrounding life


There is a Sainsbury's supermarket just a short walk from the flat on Harford Street, where students can shop for daily necessities and snacks. Mile End Road, a few minutes’ walk away, has a variety of shops, restaurants, hairdressers and NatWest Bank, making it a great place for students to go shopping. Mile End Tube station near Rahere Court has the Central line, District line, and Hammersmith and City line, providing access to all popular locations in central London within half an hour. 


Security and services


Property insurance is provided free of charge. There is a 24-hour emergency contact centre and a 24-hour security team in the building to keep the flats safe at all times. Students can report any damage to their rooms via MyUnite. The flats have a maintenance team and a front desk. There is a laundry, vending machines and bicycle storage in the flats.

Cancellation Policy

No Visa No Pay

No Visa No Pay (NVNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking has their visa application rejected, the student can provide evidence of the refusal and the booking will get cancelled with no liability.
b.For the evidence at 7(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.Students can only cancel under 7(a) above, and under the NVNP policy, if they have applied for a visa and can evidence this. Students who haven't got a visa because they haven't applied for one are not eligible for the NVNP cancellation policy.

No Place No Pay

No Place No Pay (NPNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking for a room is not accepted at a university in the city where they have booked a room with us, the student is able to cancel their room outside of the cooling-off period without the need for a replacement tenant provided they are able to provide evidence that they have not met the requirements for their offer or have been rejected by the university for some other reason.
b.For the evidence at 6(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.We reserve the right to check with the university if the evidence is genuine or fake. Providing fake / photoshopped documents is forgery and is an offense punishable by law in the UK.

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

3 days to accept the offer+ 7 days cooling-off period
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

Once these steps are done, the booking is completed.
If one of the step is not completed within these 3 days, the offer will expire.
If the student still wants a room, we can re-process a booking, but we cannot guarantee that the same room or the same price will be available.
Once the booking is completed, the student has another 7 days to change their mind and cancel their booking without any reasons. This is called the cooling-off period.

Details

Making a Booking
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

International cancellation provisions
These additional cancellation provisions apply for any individual making a booking outside of the United Kingdom.
1.Cooling Off Period – the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply;
2.After the Cooling Off Period - Once the Cooling Off Period has expired the Tenant remains liable for the rent for the whole length of the tenancy unless they want to cancel with one of these 3 conditions:
-No Place No Pay: the provisions for No Place No Pay set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply, save that this option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No Visa No Pay:if the student doesn’t get their visa to come and study in the UK, the student must send us the visa application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No ATAS certificate, No Pay: Some international students coming to the UK to study in very specific fields need to apply for an ATAS certificate. (Academic Technology Approval Scheme). If a student’s ATAS certificate application is rejected the student must send us the ATAS certificate application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
The cancellation requests along with the proof documents must be sent by the student, from the email address they have registered their account with Unite Students and must be sent to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
If an agent is involved the evidence must be sent to the agent and then forwarded on to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
3. Replacement Tenants - the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply. Please note the point that Unite Students is under no obligation to enter into a Tenancy Agreement with any replacement Tenant that is suggested under this provision.
Passed the 31st August, the No Place No Pay and No Visa No Pay do not apply.
The student remains liable for the rent unless they find a replacement Tenant.
