A small and friendly traditional Hall of Residence for 130 residents, with a strong, caring community that values academic success.
General Helen Lowry Hall is made up of purpose-built buildings and domestic houses set in extensive grounds and gardens. Each area has its own laundry, kitchenette and bathroom facilities. All rooms, from single to shared, come fully furnished with heating facilities. Situated 4km from Kelburn campus, the hall runs a free shuttle service throughout the day.

Fees include electricity, internet, catering, shuttle and water charges. The accommodation fees are payable in advance in four instalments throughout the academic year. If you do not have a New Zealand financial guarantor, then you are required to pay for each trimester upfront. Support The hall endeavours to help the residents achieve academic success. A variety of academic support is provided: study groups, individual tutorials and general study skills seminars. A dynamic activity programme includes trips (skiing, tramping, South Island and Taupo), socials, quiz evenings, sports leagues, formal dinners and theme nights. The shuttle is used to explore the Wellington region and attend a wide range of cultural events. Fully equipped gym, music room, computer suite, printing available in the office, games room with table tennis, foosball, air hockey and pool. All lounges have video and TV. Contact Helen Lowry Hall or the Accommodation Service to discuss any special needs. Facilities Catering The communal dining room serves three meals a day. Vegetarian and special diet options are available. The dining room is open 24 hours a day with hot drinks and bread provided.
Internet Internet is available throughout the hall, inclusive of fees for fully-catered students. Self-catered students need to set up internet in their flat.
Furniture Basic furniture and whiteware is provided by Helen Lowry Hall. Items that are not provided by the hall will need to be supplied by the residents.
Laundry Each area has its own laundry with washing machines, dryers and outside clothes lines.
Parking 15 free off-street car parks and bike storage available.
