Perfect On-campus Accommodation

The Preston campus has student accommodation scattered among the significant academic buildings next to the city centre. Students have direct access to the school laundry, gym, medical centre, counselling centre and more. Walking to school takes only a few minutes, and shopping, entertainment and spending in the city centre are all just ten minutes away.

Suppose you feel uncomfortable with your accommodation or want to switch to a different room type during the accommodation process. In that case, you can apply, and the accommodation office will coordinate as much as possible. When applying for halls of residence, you can also make a special request to live in the same flat as your friends. And Lancashire will endeavour to accommodate your needs as long as you note this well when applying.

The contract fees for each room type in UCLan student accommodation include internet, Wi-Fi, gas, electricity and water at no extra charge. The communal areas of each hall of residence are monitored. Besides, the University’s Security Control Centre provides 24-hour security around the clock, doing its best to keep students safe.

Diverse room types

student housing

Economy Standard: The most cost-effective room type, where each student has their room. Shared kitchen and bathroom, but no standard living room. The rooms have a washbasin, bed and desk for basic living needs.

Premium Standard: This room type has a larger modern social space than the Economy Standard apartments. It is ideal for socialites who like to party and be lively, but it is still a good choice at a reasonable price.

En-suite: Each room has an en-suite bathroom, and the apartment shares a living room and kitchen, providing privacy and socialization at once.

Self-contained: Ideal self-contained apartments with en-suite bathrooms and kitchens, only available in Pendle Hall. Students can choose from one or two-bedroom apartments. This type of room is ideal for students who want a small, undisturbed place to live or to live with close friends.

Students can apply directly on the university’s official website to apply for a hall of residence at the University of Central Lancashire. During the application process, details such as personal information and programme of study are required. New students are usually notified of their halls of residence allocation within a few weeks of confirmation of enrolment.

The chart above shows the dormitory application timetable. After paying the tuition deposit, students can apply for a dormitory on the official website. Upon receipt of the Room Offer notification, students can either pay in full or 25% of the rent in advance. In addition, pre-arrival information will be received in late August. Finally, you can move into the hostel from 7 September (updated on 24 May: available from 20 September). Within 14 days of moving in, you can pay the remaining 75% of the rent.

Off-Campus Accommodation Guide

If you cannot apply for an on-campus flat or want to rent a room with a familiar friend, it’s important to remember the following points. Remember to choose a private student house registered with Lancashire. Otherwise, you could be in a substandard building area or a contractual dispute.

Typically, University Registered House rents for £45-80 per week, excluding utilities and University Registered Halls of Residence rent for £85-150 per week. The above prices can be used as a guide.

Be aware that most landlords will ask for a deposit of a certain amount, which will be returned at the end of the contract if there is no damage to the property. Also, be sure to check in advance whether these flats offer Wi-Fi and whether the contract includes the cost of internet, water, electricity and gas, as these costs are generally higher in the UK.
