A first-year hall in the central city, Capital Hall is committed to developing a culture that encourages involvement, responsibility and achievement.
A high-rise building housing 320 residents with mostly single bedrooms. There are a small number of en-suite bedrooms for those with a specific need. Bedrooms are fully furnished and heated with internet access. All 10 residential floors have a large common room with a kitchenette, study area, television and couches at the centre of each floor. A large communal area is also available on the dining floor, which includes a TV room, music room and games area. 10 minute walk to Kelburn campus, 10 minute walk to Te Aro campus and a 15 minute walk to Pipitea campus. 24/7 camera surveillance of our egress points, and swipe card building and residential floor access.
Fees quoted are for 2020 and are subject to change. Rates will be confirmed when you receive your offer.
Fee includes electricity, heating, internet and water charges. The accommodation fees are payable in advance in four instalments throughout the academic year. If you do not have a New Zealand financial guarantor, then you are required to pay for each trimester upfront. We have a team of 8 Residential Advisors and our Deputy Head of Hall who live on site and provide academic help, care, and support. Regular events are held on and off-site for residents, and study groups are also available. Exercise is promoted to encourage a balanced lifestyle. Quiet and collaborative study areas are available throughout the hall. Facilities are available for students with disabilities.
Facilities Catering The communal dining room serves three meals a day from Monday to Saturday and brunch and dinner on Sundays. Late dinners and packed lunches catering for all dietary needs are also available. Kitchenettes on each floor have a zip, microwave and fridge.
Internet Wireless internet is available throughout the hall and usage is through the University.
Furniture Basic furniture and whiteware is provided by Capital Hall. Items that are not provided by the hall will need to be supplied by the residents.
Laundry Communal coin-operated laundries consisting of washing machines, dryers and tubs are provided.
Parking A secure storage area for bicycles is available on site.
Other facilities Sky lounge with TV/home theatre system, music room with piano, pool table, and gaming equipment.
