After living at Scape Darling House for more than half a year, I’d say it’s a CBD student apartment with very clear pros and cons.
The location is a big plus. It’s right in Haymarket, very close to UTS, and within walking distance of the University of Sydney, Chinatown, and Darling Square. There are plenty of bubble tea shops, Chinese restaurants, and supermarkets nearby, so getting around and finding food is extremely convenient. The 24-hour keycard access and security make it feel safe, and the front desk responds fairly quickly. The shared facilities are also complete: study areas, a gym, a cinema room, and a rooftop terrace are all available. Bills are included in the rent, so there’s no need to pay separately for water, electricity, or internet, which makes budgeting easier.
The downsides are also quite real. The rooms are generally on the small side, and storage space is limited. Lower-floor rooms facing the street can be affected by street noise. The gym is shared with the neighboring building, so you may have to wait when it gets busy. Cleaning in the common areas can be inconsistent, and rubbish sometimes piles up. The rent is on the expensive side among Sydney student apartments, and meal-inclusive room types offer less flexibility, which can be frustrating if you don’t like eating at the canteen.
Overall, it’s suitable for students who value safety, location, and convenience. If you care a lot about quiet surroundings, spacious rooms, or cooking for yourself often, you should think carefully before moving in.

The house can be too expensive and the fluctuations are quite drastic. My roommate and I live in a twin share room, and the weekly rent I earn is 160 AUD less than my roommate.
Banh mi is so convenient, and the accommodation is pretty good, but the bed is a bit soft.

The unlimited self-service every day is very delicious and cost-effective. It is very convenient to shop and do things nearby since it's right next to Chinatown, and it's very close to UTS. The internal facilities are very complete, and the apartments organize some gatherings where you can meet some Chinese friends. If you're lucky, you might get assigned to a house facing Darling Harbour, but unfortunately, I didn’t 😢. Overall, I feel that the cost-performance ratio is very high and worry-free, and I am very satisfied.
