Unite Students - Merchant City House also have a communal lounge where students can relax and make friends. The flats are located in Glasgow city centre. They suit students from various institutions such as the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Caledonian University. The flats are all-inclusive rent with no hidden costs.
Features
Merchant City House is a carefully designed flat exclusively for students. The flats offer free 50Mb/s broadband and WiFi in all rooms to ensure smooth study and entertainment. All flat rentals include utilities and personal property insurance. In addition, large comfortable beds, spacious bedrooms, ample storage space, plenty of kitchen space, laundry room, bicycle storage, and common area cleaning services make living at Unite Students - Merchant City House more comfortable and reassuring for students. The flats also have a communal lounge to enrich the students' lives.
There are two types of En-suite rooms available for students to choose from in Unite Students - Merchant City House. Our modern rooms have a shared kitchen and living room, private bathrooms and plenty of space to study and live. Each room includes a 14 square metre fully fitted comfortable 4ft double bed with plenty of under-bed storage, a bespoke wardrobe and much more. Shared kitchens include cooktops, ovens, refrigerators, durable and attractive worktops, and more. The flat is provided with regular cleaning services in the common areas.
Location and What's Hot?
Merchant City House is located in the heart of Glasgow's city centre, with Queen Street nearby offering food from all over the world, including Ichiban for Japanese food, Max's Bar and Grill for cocktails, and Strata for 60's style food. In comparison, George Square has a good reputation for Jamie's, Italian, Browns, and Prezzo. The city centre is also home to chain restaurants Nando's, Wagamama and Five Guys, while Merchant Square near the flats has some great bars, and for those who like to dance, there is a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive to Lub 520.
An 8-minute walk north of Unite Students - Merchant City House is the Buchanan Galleries, a Mall housing department store plus 90 fashion, electrical and gift outlets and restaurants: Modern Art and Glasgow Police Museum. Living at Merchant City House, you can find anything you want nearby.
Transport
The Argyll Arcade bus stop is just downstairs from Unite Students - Merchant City House for quick access to any university. It is also close to several universities: the Academy of Music and Sound is a 6-minute walk, the University of Strathclyde is a 7-minute walk, the City of Glasgow Collegeis a 10-minute walk, and Glasgow Caledonian University is a 17-minute bus ride. The University of Glasgow is a bit further away and is a 16-minute subway ride.

Merchant City House recognises the importance of safety for our students, so our security measures include a 24/7 electronic access control system, video surveillance system, 24-hour security and front desk service. External visitors must pass through multiple electronic gates before entering the hostel, ensuring students live in a safe and secure environment. In addition, the dormitory is equipped with its own independent facilities maintenance team. After moving in, any problems with the dormitory facilities can be reported directly to the dormitory front desk, and the dormitory will be repaired for you the first time.

How to pay rent?
There are two ways to pay the apartment rent, online payment or bank wire transfer 1. For online payment, please log in to the Account of Unite Students, click the Payments page, enter the rent amount to be paid in the dialog box, click the Pay button, and enter the payment card information. If it is a British savings card, select the Debit card type (the corresponding Billing address needs to be changed to a British address), if it is a Chinese credit card, select the Credit card type (the billing address remains the domestic address) 2. For bank wire transfer, please log in to the Account of Unite Students and click Booking page, download the Bank Transfer Info file, communicate with the bank in advance, and bring the corresponding materials to the bank counter or self-service money transfer machine for remittance. In the remittance postscript, please fill in the personal reservation information (refer to the content required in the bank_tranfer_info file). The wire transfer does not arrive in real time , please be sure to wire transfer 1-2 weeks before the deadline to ensure that the funds arrive on time. Since the bank will charge a cross-border payment service fee, please pay the required rent + service fee when paying the fee to ensure that the full amount arrives.

Should I pay as much as the apartment needs to pay?
Please decide how much to pay based on your payment method, but please make sure that the amount of your rent is consistent with the amount required by the apartment. For example, if you use an international bank remittance, the intermediary bank will charge part of the handling fee, so in this case, please ensure that the amount paid is the payable rent + handling fee, and ensure that the full amount arrives to avoid arrears.

When can I check in?
You can check in on the day when the contract period starts. If you arrive at the apartment during non-working hours, it is best to inform the apartment in advance so that the apartment can arrange check-in.

How do I collect my access card?
After completing the check-in process at the front desk, you can get the key card from the apartment front desk
Can I check in early?
If you need to check in early, please contact your consultant teacher. If there are vacancies in the apartment for the corresponding lease period, you can arrange early check-in after accepting the corresponding extra rent
Can someone else get the key card for me?
No, for security reasons, your key card can only be collected by yourself.
Do I need to pay land tax?
If you are an eligible full-time student, you will be exempt from paying land tax. You must provide proof to the apartment that you are a full-time student
