Facilities: St James Point facilities are generally sufficient, just lacking a gym. Any indoor damages can be reported to the front desk for repair, and the front desk staff are overall very nice. However, the South Asian staff member Neha has a mediocre attitude towards Chinese people. There will be a sanitation check when vacating this apartment. Other staff members generally won’t make it particularly difficult for students, and it’s best to vacate when Neha is not around. Internet Speed: Sufficient for daily use, ask4 provides network setup, with one account allowing up to 6 free wireless device connections. Students who like to game can bring their own network cables, as there are network ports available in the dormitory. Soundproofing: The soundproofing in the UK is generally average, as the rooms have wooden partitions; this is the case in most student apartments, at a normal value level. Hygiene: There will not be regular cleaning inside the rooms; instead, there will be an indoor hygiene check at the end of each year and a spring inspection. If the first clean is not satisfactory, there will be a second check, and if the second fails, there could theoretically be a fine. Students living in studios can clean their own rooms, while students in ensuites should arrange cleaning for the shared kitchen themselves. Currently, there haven’t been any failures on my part, but it’s important to clean well during inspections. In addition to the cleaning charges when vacating, each person must ensure cleaning is done at least three times a year. Location: Close to the business school and computer science department, about a 3-5 minute walk. Near the city center, there is a Tesco convenience store downstairs (which basically closes at 23:30), and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the city center where there is a Chinese supermarket. The subway station is nearby, so transportation can be relied upon.

As an international student, I was unsure about the process, but she guided me patiently and clearly through each step. Communication was fast and everything was handled professionally. The environment was very clean when I checked in. The front desk staff were really nice, and the trash room is conveniently located just downstairs. The safety is quite good, and the sound insulation is also decent. The heating may not be very warm yet since it is not very cold now. The laundry room is to the left of the front desk, and everything else was great.
