My Wonderful Apartment Rental Experience in Manhattan, New York Hi everyone! Today I'd love to share my experience of renting my dream apartment in Manhattan, New York. As an international student from China, I was both excited and nervous when I first arrived in New York. Everything felt new and full of opportunities, but finding a place to live was definitely one of the biggest challenges. When I first started apartment hunting, I was surprised by how expensive rents were in Manhattan. On top of that, the best apartments were usually rented out within days. I spent a lot of time reading apartment-hunting tips on Xiaohongshu (RED) and joined several rental groups before finally finding my current apartment, Greystone, through uhomes. Why I Love My Apartment The apartment is located in Midtown Manhattan, with excellent transportation. It's only a few minutes' walk from the nearest subway station. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores nearby, making daily life incredibly convenient. I rented a one-bedroom apartment. Although it's not very large, the layout is well designed, and every inch of space is used efficiently. Apartment Hunting Tips Here are a few tips I'd like to share with anyone planning to rent in New York: Start your search early The rental market is highly competitive, especially for quality apartments. Decide on your budget and priorities in advance so you're ready to act quickly. Build a good credit history In the U.S., your credit score plays an important role in the rental application process. Maintaining good credit can significantly improve your chances of securing your preferred apartment. Inspect the apartment carefully Before signing the lease, check the condition of the apartment thoroughly. Make sure all appliances and facilities are working properly, and report any issues to the landlord immediately. Read the lease carefully Take the time to understand every clause in the lease agreement, including rent, security deposit, lease term, and any additional fees, so there are no surprises later. After installing the signal amplifier, the signal improvement is not significant; before moving in, contact the apartment's reserved service email to resolve the luggage issue. Initially, they were able to respond, but later they stopped replying to emails. 😓
Advantages: Good service, the doorman and building management are very friendly, the manager replies to emails quickly; Disadvantages: The building is too old, the facilities are not very good, and external noise is quite loud.
