Grassmarket, also 10 minutes away, offers a free view of Edinburgh Castle and leads up to the colourful, much-photographed Victoria Street. The Royal Mile is lined with souvenir shops and, further down, the café where J.K. Rowling wrote much of Harry Potter. Transport

From Panmure Court Edinburgh, a 20-minute walk to the University of Edinburgh, and 23 minutes to the University of Edinburgh GS Campus. There are several bus stops within a couple of minutes' walking distance of the halls of residence and a 31-minute bus journey to Heriot-Watt University. Students can catch a free round-trip bus to the University of Edinburgh KB campus. From the residence halls, there is a 14-minute walk to Waverley train station, from where it is only an hour's train ride to Glasgow. Students can also catch the 100 direct to Edinburgh Airport, making travelling easy.
