Straits Meadow is a luxurious student accommodation in Edinburgh, with six floors of flats available in both en-suite and studio styles. The studio option also offers a private kitchen.

 

In addition, there is plenty of social space for students who want to make new friends. Head to the common room to chat with new friends or relax in the garden with a few drinks when the sun shines. The flat has private study rooms and study areas for those who want to give their full attention to their studies. When you need a break, there is a game room with a pool table for endless hours of fun! There is also a car park and laundry room, bike storage and CCTV surveillance to ensure student safety in the flats. The flat's on-site maintenance team will also be on hand to deal with any problems, big or small, to make the student's stay as comfortable as possible.

 

Accommodation facilities

Straits Meadow is a new 2021 student accommodation in Edinburgh with 6 floors, floor0-floor5, with 274 beds, comprising two room types: En-suite and Studio. Each bedroom and studio is equipped with a small double bed and study area. The studio features an en-suite kitchen, a separate bathroom and 250MB of broadband. En-suite has its own bathroom.

1. Includes bills (plumbing and heating network), wireless high-speed Internet, laundry room, communal kitchen, and bicycle storage.

2. All leisure facilities are available, including a recreation area with pool, foosball and video games; a movie screening area for watching the latest movies. An outdoor activity area is also provided, where students can barbecue and play sports.

3. The study area is suitable for reading and studying and for group activities, where students can enjoy a quiet space.

4. Each room has ample storage space, mattresses, tables and other essential facilities.

 

Surroundings

Straits Meadow is close to Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, and is a short 9 minute walk from downtown. There are also many bus stops within a 3 minute walk. The Meadow is also within a 5 minute walk of Meadowbank shopping area, which is very convenient for supermarkets and shopping. There is also a 24-hour McDonald's downstairs and a wide range of entertainment facilities, including nail salons, beauty shops, fencing schools, gyms and more, all within walking distance.

Straits Meadow is a 15-minute drive from Edinburgh city centre, with a bus stop 2 minutes downstairs.

22 minutes by bus to the GS campus;

40 minutes by bus to the KB campus;

approximately 28 minutes by bus to Edinburgh College of Art;

Approximately 35 minutes walk (about 18 minutes by bus) to the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures;

Approximately 30 minutes on foot (approximately 14 minutes by bus) to the Law School;

38 minutes by public transport to Heriot-Watt University.

The whole is quite good. There is a large sports center across the street. It is very convenient to go to the supermarket. There are sainsburys one-pound shops on foot for 5 minutes. The front desk is very good.

Cancellation Policy

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

You can cancel your tenancy agreement for up to 14 days after the date of your booking (the Initial Cancellation Period). For bookings made from 1st August to 30th September ahead of the academic year the booking is for, the Initial Cancellation Period reduces to 7 days. We will refund the full security deposit.

No Visa No Pay

Prospective international students who have applied to attend a University or a Higher Education Institution in any of the cities in which Homes for Students operates, and who book a room with Homes for Students, will be allowed to be released from their Tenancy Agreement if they do not receive the entry Visa they require for their study in the UK and evidence is provided.

Only new customers who have never lived at a Homes for Students property are eligible.

If a customer does not receive the entry Visa they require for their study in the UK and wishes to be released from their Tenancy Agreement, they must provide Homes for Students with evidence of their refusal of entry to the UK to study no later than 7 days after notification of their refusal.

Evidence can be a copy of the letter from the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration service or other official Visa issuing body as well as a letter from the university, sponsor or institution where they were supposed to be studying. It must clearly show the student’s full name, address and date of issue. This can be emailed to salesenquiries@wearehomesforstudents.com or posted to Homes for Students, 3 Clock Tower Park, Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, L10 1LD.
Customers who do not apply to be released from their Tenancy Agreement within this timescale will be bound by the terms and conditions set out in the Tenancy Agreement.

No Place No Pay

Prospective first year students who have applied to attend a University or a Higher Education Institution in any of the cities in which Homes for Students operates, and who book a room with Homes for Students, will be allowed to be released from their Tenancy Agreement if, as a result of not achieving the required A-Level, Scottish Higher (or equivalent) results, they do not gain a place at their chosen university and evidence is provided.

Only new customers who have never lived at a Homes for Students property are eligible.

If a customer does not gain a place at their chosen University or College and wishes to be released from their Tenancy Agreement, they must provide Homes for Students with evidence of their rejection and evidence of the reason why (proof of results achieved etc) no later than 3 working days after their results day.

Evidence can be a written rejection letter from the University/College/UCAS, or a screen shot of the customer’s UCAS status along with the results etc. This can be emailed to salesenquiries@wearehomesforstudents.com or posted to Homes for Students, Clock Tower Park, Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, L10 1LD.

Customers who do not apply to be released from their Tenancy Agreement within this timescale and provide the correct evidence will be bound by the terms and conditions set out in the Tenancy Agreement.

Our full termination policy is within your online account.

Please note, £20 will be deducted from the refunded amount to cover any international bank charges for deposit refunds made to non-UK banks.

If you cancel your booking after the Initial Cancellation Period, you remain liable for the weekly rent (for each and every week or part week) until you are able to find another tenant that is acceptable to Homes for Students and we are able to re-let the room. The replacement tenant must be over the age of 18 and have the necessary student status (it is your responsibility to find another tenant and provide them with the correction information). If you find a suitable replacement tenant and the room is re-let we will refund your deposit, less any appropriate charges, as well as a deduction of £50 for the variation of the contract.

Is an installment purchase possible?

If you have a valid UK guarantor, you can choose to pay the rent in three installments, in September, January and April. If there is no valid UK guarantor, full rent must be paid 1 month before the start of the contract.

How to pay rent?

Please enter the Student Portal interface of your apartment, click Review/Pay Statement to enter the payment interface, then tick the items that need to be paid, and click pay to enter the payment interface. The apartment supports online credit card payment (credit card is supported) or bank transfer 1. For online credit card payment, please ensure that the payment card type is one of the following four types: Mastercard/Visa/Visa Debit/Visa Electron. Carefully fill in the cardholder information, and please ensure that the payment card has sufficient credit, and the bank is opened and supports payment behavior. Please note that payment cards do not need to be present in person. 2. For bank remittance, please contact the apartment to obtain the transfer account under the guidance of the consultant, and then complete the corresponding payment in the bank. However, please note that wire transfers can take several business days to arrive, so payment needs to be arranged in advance.
