I lived in this British student apartment for a whole year, and I was very satisfied with the overall experience. The location of the apartment is excellent, just a ten-minute walk to the school, with supermarkets and bus stops right downstairs, making daily commuting and shopping particularly convenient. The ensuite room I stayed in comes with a private bathroom, the room is well-lit, and there is ample space for a desk and wardrobe. The front desk staff are warm and patient, and the repair processing speed is very fast. The public study room and gym are clean and tidy, and security is on duty 24 hours, providing a great sense of safety for residents. I highly recommend this place to international students who just arrived in the UK.

Facilities: They are quite old, but still within an acceptable range. Internet speed: The internet was very good in the first year. In the second year, after moving to flat4, there were frequent network issues, about 3–4 times a year. Soundproofing: The soundproofing is average. In flat11.1, you can hear noises from flat11.2 across the hall, though only when it is extremely quiet. In flat4, my roommate could hear the roommate next door snoring. Hygiene: Overall, it was very clean when I moved in; I only needed to wipe off some dust myself. There were silverfish in flat11, but not in flat4. Location: Very good. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the university’s North Campus. There is a Co-op, Caffè Nero, and Greggs downstairs, and many restaurants nearby. The surrounding environment is also very quiet. It also takes about 10–15 minutes to get to the city center.

The pros are that the room layout is reasonable, the bathroom is spacious, there are fewer roommates in the triple room, and Rachel at the front desk is very nice and can speak Chinese. The maintenance staff also have a good attitude. The cons are that the soundproofing is really poor... You can hear your roommates talking next door, and the kitchen space is a bit small. Also, within the first year of moving in, the toilet leaked for two weeks and still wasn’t fixed, leaving water all over the bathroom floor, which was really frustrating... Sometimes there is a bit of a smell in the bathroom.

First of all, the top floor is the 4th floor, so don’t assume it isn’t the top floor just because you see a 5th floor. As for soundproofing, let’s put it this way: soundproofing in UK apartments is generally poor. In terms of facilities, many things feel very basic. For example, the router casing is broken, the induction cooktop often doesn’t heat properly, and the blinds either won’t pull up, or once pulled up, won’t come back down. Apart from having a very good attitude, the front desk is worse than those at other apartments in every other way: they don’t notify you when packages arrive, and if something in your room breaks, reporting it for repair doesn’t help. You have to submit a request through the app, and even after a month they may still not come to fix it. The light in my bathroom was broken and no one fixed it before I moved out. Another issue is noise. My friend had a foreign neighbor next door who often played music late at night and disturbed others. There was also a certain Chinese student who kept setting off the smoke alarm at all kinds of times every day. You could be sleeping in the middle of the night and suddenly get a piercing two-minute alarm. One time, someone even set off something in the kitchen in the middle of the night, and everyone upstairs was forced to run downstairs in their pajamas to evacuate...

A private bathroom offers privacy and comfort, while all-inclusive bills make life easier and reduce hassle. The space is compact but fully functional, and the biggest uncertainty lies with your roommates: with good ones, the shared kitchen feels warm and lively; with messy ones, grease and noise can become frustrating. It offers moderate value for money and is essentially like opening a “blind box,” making it suitable for students who enjoy socializing and are highly tolerant.

Finding housing as an international student was such a headache, but thankfully uhomes.com helped me sort out my apartment! I spent a long time hesitating over housing options in the early stage, and the consultant was very patient. Based on my school location and budget, they helped me filter suitable listings. The booking communication was smooth, and they reminded me in advance about many common pitfalls of renting overseas. The process was simple and very beginner-friendly for new international students. Just sharing this as a reference for anyone who needs to rent housing abroad.

Well-equipped facilities and convenient living around (except the elevator occasionally stops for a few days). The internet speed is 500M, but there is an intranet wall, so some websites may have slightly higher latency. The sound insulation is decent; it can't be completely quiet, but it's acceptable.

Overall, I've been satisfied with living here for two years. The staff are very friendly, and aside from the manager not being very attentive, everyone else is great. Occasionally, there are events that provide catering for celebrations and gatherings. The rooms are quite comfortable, although the water heater broke twice, it was repaired in a timely manner. All in all, I have fond memories of it, and it's super close to the school with a nice environment around, making it relatively clean and safe.
