9.24 On the first day I moved in, there was shit in the toilet and no toilet brush. Later I went to the front desk to get one and flushed it away, but it was extremely disgusting. There were a lot of spiders and bugs, and the windows were filthy. To get to the flat, I actually had to pass through the common room, and the soundproofing was so bad that I kept thinking someone had entered the dorm, but it turned out to be people in the common room. The room is on the ground floor, but the window is actually not one-way; there is no film or frosted glass, so people outside can see inside? The kitchen is the only relatively good thing; it is quite large, but there are very few cabinets, and I don’t know how it was designed. Also, there is no window, so it is unbelievably stuffy. I can only keep propping the door open with something. The mattress was too soft, so I bought a new one, though maybe mattresses in London are all soft. Who has ever seen a door that requires you to swipe your card again when going out just to lock it? An electric door that only fully locks after you enter the room and lock it from the inside? Is there something wrong with it? If you don’t lock it from the inside, anyone can just push it open, so how is it different from an ordinary door? This is clearly an electric key-card door, isn’t it? 9.25 Two more spiders came in. When my stored luggage arrived, I found that the storage space here is extremely small and cannot fit the things I had before at all. The sink and shower drain incredibly slowly; after showering, the water reached the top of my feet. Luckily, I had put on a water barrier strip myself. 9.26 This room has to be ventilated every day, otherwise it gets unbearably stuffy and smelly, and there is even a smell like formaldehyde or something, but I don’t know where it comes from. The urine stains left by the previous person behind the toilet seat/cover were stinking, and it was so disgusting that I had to clean it myself. The shit and urine were definitely from someone using the toilet before I moved in, and it was definitely a man, because a woman could not have gotten urine in that place. I’ve only lived here for two days and already
