I rented the most expensive room type at Canvas. Overall, the room facilities were decent and about the normal standard for UK student accommodation.
The internet is speed-limited, and the download speed is extremely slow. With the same provider, Canvas is dozens of times slower than others.
The front desk finds all kinds of ways to rip you off. When I checked out, the room had been cleaned exceptionally well, but I still had to pay a £50 cleaning fee because there were a few water stains on the shower glass. I heard that people in room types with shared areas also get fined from time to time, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
The front desk staff sometimes have a very bad attitude. Only one guy has consistently been nice; the others can all be rude. The room gets extremely hot in summer. Even when it was just over 20°C outside my three windows, the room could stay steadily at 30°C. Most rooms only have one window. When the temperature is around 20°C, the room becomes packed with bugs of all kinds, big and small, even covering the ceiling. I was on the 14th floor and still had bugs everywhere.
The soundproofing of the door and walls is very poor, and unfortunately both of my neighbors were noisy. One of them was extremely inconsiderate and never changed even after being reminded many times. They would still be yelling and playing games at 2 or 3 a.m., completely unaware of the problem. Because the soundproofing is so bad, I was woken up many times. The window soundproofing is good though; once the window is closed, you can’t hear the trains outside.
The apartment’s location is okay, mainly because it’s convenient to go out, with Victoria right at the entrance. However, there are no large supermarkets nearby, nor any Chinese supermarkets. You have to walk more than ten minutes to get to a big Lidl, and you need to take the metro to reach a Chinese supermarket. The location is quite far out, so commuting is very expensive, about 100 RMB per day. The apartment has many events, including free yoga classes, and you can book the cinema room.

Very safe, with access control, the room is fresh and odorless, the room size is also decent, and there is a Tesco nearby, making shopping for groceries very convenient. The subway station is right outside, making it easy to get to the city center.
The overall facilities are relatively new, especially the bathrooms which are bright and spacious. The layout is also good, with sunlight coming in from the railway side and a nice view from the window. The downsides are the train noise and the possibility of mosquitoes and spiders.

Noise from the vacuum truck 24/7 all year round, the indoor air is stuffy and very hot in summer, one roommate harasses others and is in jail, another roommate doesn't clean the kitchen for a month 😌 The only advantage is that the subway station is just 50 meters away, besides that, the location is reliant, just walking out one block is like going straight to Gotham City, the lime mask guy will snatch everyone's phone 🤠🫳🏾 The internet speed and other facilities are decent.
The apartment services are efficient, and the facilities exceed expectations.
It's noisy next to the station and school, and the internet often drops. In summer, there are also many bugs. But aside from these, everything else is quite good. Living in a studio for a year has been very comfortable~

There are several of us living here, some choose the south side and some the north side. The south side is sunny, but there is a chance of spider webs and spiders outside the window, while the north side has no spider webs but lacks sufficient sunlight. The walls are covered with shoe prints and various scratches, the floor and table are dusty, and there are a bunch of used cotton swabs and bottle caps. Clearly, no one cleaned before moving in. The train tracks are right next door (3m away in a straight line) and the noise is huge. My roommate is elusive, only the trash proves he has been here.
